Question: I've worked years on a s/f novel; writing and rewriting. I want to get published, but I really don't
know what to do next? (DE)
Answer: First, you want to make sure it's as "perfect" as you can get it. That means editing, editing, editing. There
are several ways to approach this - One, join a critique group, whose objective is to critique writing. Two, pass your story to friends and
relatives who you trust to read and critique. If any of these folks are good at editing, even better. Three, you could check into hiring a
professional to edit your work.
After you've perfected your work, search around and find publishers, or agents, you wish to send a submission to. Read books
on submitting and writing a query letter, so you can put your best foot forward. The Writer's Market is one place you can look to find
publishers/agents to submit to, with guidelines for submitting your work. Remember, if you want to get published, it won't happen if you're
too timid or unknowledgable to take the next step.
